Job Description: Product Design Lead
Why You Should Join
- Experience the full process: shape product-market fit and scale the business.
- Collaborate closely with founders and management, learning from their experience in product development and international markets.
- Tackle significant challenges in a global, diverse environment.
- Work alongside industry leaders focused on delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Use the latest technologies and bring your unique flair to the role.
Your Challenges
Drive User Insight Through Rapid Exploration
- Own and lead the user research practice, with emphasis on early, prototype-driven user testing.
- Use AI-assisted prototyping to quickly explore ideas, validate assumptions, and identify risks before engineering commitment.
- Transform ambiguous feedback into clear hypotheses, prototypes, and actionable learnings for product direction.
Set the Bar for Product Design
- Define and evolve the design philosophy and principles, balancing speed vs. polish and AI-enabled workflows vs. traditional processes.
- Ensure design decisions are evidence-based, grounded in feedback from real users.
Make Design a Force Multiplier
- Build, scale, and maintain a design system that encodes user insights and enables fast learning and iteration.
- Champion modern tools and workflows—especially AI—that reduce the cycle time from idea → prototype → user feedback → decision.
Lead and Grow the Design Team
- Coach the design team to adopt prototype-first, research-led workflows.
- Foster a culture where learning happens through experimentation, making, and iteration.
- Stay hands-on: prototype, test flows with users, and unblock high-impact work as needed.
Partner Deeply Across the Company
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to ensure learning velocity drives roadmap decisions.
- Build shared understanding of users through prototypes, narratives, and clear synthesis.
Requirements
- Fluency in qualitative user research (concept testing, usability testing, workflow validation).
- Strong leadership in product design with a prototype-first mindset—using early artifacts to test and learn.
- Design systems thinking: ability to translate learnings into patterns, systems, and principles.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design/prototyping tools; curiosity to explore new approaches.
- Collaborative leadership style: engage Product and Engineering in continuous learning.
- Cross-platform experience: design for both web and desktop.
- Bias to action: favor multiple iterations and steady release progress over perfection.
Working Arrangement
- Fully remote; headquarters located in Japan (relocation not mandatory, with visa support available).
- Flexible working time:
- Flexible time: 6:00 am - 11:30 am / 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
