Product Design Lead (Remote)

Lead user research with emphasis on early, prototype-driven user testing.
Utilize AI-assisted prototyping for quick idea exploration and validation before engineering investment.
Turn ambiguous feedback or requests into concrete hypotheses, tested prototypes, and actionable learnings.

Shape and evolve design philosophy and principles, balancing speed vs. polish and AI-enabled vs. traditional workflows.
Ensure design decisions are grounded in real user insights.

Build and maintain a design system that accelerates team performance and encodes user insights.
Advocate for modern, especially AI-powered, tools and workflows to streamline the process from concept to feedback.

Coach and mentor product designers to adopt a prototype-first, research-driven approach.
Emphasize learning through making, testing, and iterating (not traditional handoffs/specs).
Remain hands-on as needed: prototyping, user testing, and clearing blockers.

Work closely with Product and Engineering to ensure rapid learning drives the roadmap.
Foster shared understanding of users using prototypes, narratives, and clear synthesis—not just documentation.

Fluency in qualitative user research (concept and usability testing, workflow validation).
Experience leading product design with a prototype-first, iteration-driven mindset.
Design systems thinking: Translate insights into scalable systems and patterns.
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design tools; openness to new technologies and workflows.
Collaborative leadership style, partnering with Product and Engineering.
Cross-platform experience: Competence designing for web and desktop.
Bias to action: Comfortable moving forward with iterations, reducing risk.

Design Process: Portfolio must detail your design process, challenges addressed, and outcomes—not just final visuals.
Leadership & Management: Resume should describe your management philosophy and key leadership achievements.

Relocation: Visa support available if relocating to Japan is desired.
Flexible Hours:
- Flexible time: 6:00 am – 11:30 am / 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
- Core time: 11:30 am – 3:00 pm
Virtual Office: Create a virtual character and interact with colleagues in a digital environment.

Location: Home or similar; occasional requirement to commute if necessary.
Schedule: Five-day week (Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, company holidays)
Employment Status: Full-time (permanent, fixed overtime included)
Probation: 6 months
