Your challenges as a Product Designer

Learn: Our core customers are niche users with many years of academic training. You need to continuously develop an understanding of what is friction and what is delight for them, and how that relates to the mental models that govern their professional habits.

Scale: What incremental change could we make quickly to improve usability? Where and how should we standardize a design system component not only for better quality but to help our engineering teams ship faster? How can we introduce an existing feature to a new market with minimal localization cost?

Innovate: What is the minimum design that fits the core hypothesis when we expand to a new JTBD? How can we use design to unblock difficult engineering iterations? How can design be used to create more accuracy through seamless user feedback?

Promote: The best features sell themselves, but more often than not, an initial boost is required. What content and assets should we use for product marketing? What should be the language and tone of a brand new feature? How can we package these to enhance the storytelling of our commercial team members?

Validate: Shipping fast isn’t enough. What would you introduce as quantitative and qualitative trackers to validate the user reaction of your improvements? Success or failure, you need to use that to build your conviction and regularly share that back with the wider team.
