Job Title: Service Development Engineer (Ruby / Ruby on Rails) - Recipe Business

Overview

Seeking a backend engineer to lead development and service improvements using technology, making everyday cooking fun for people around the world. Join a global team enhancing a large, multilingual recipe-sharing service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop web applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Design APIs and architectures based on requirements
  • Lead project technical direction or support other engineers
  • Improve the development environment for faster development and deployment

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience developing with Ruby on Rails
  • Basic knowledge and practical experience in web applications, databases, or infrastructure
  • Experience in supporting growth and development of a development team
  • Team leadership experience (teams of 3+ members)
  • Experience and ability to design maintainable architectures considering requirements
  • Ability to stay updated with latest technologies and apply them
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese at a basic level (or willingness to learn)

Preferred:

  • Technical Architecture or Tech Lead/CTO-like experience
  • Open source contributions or active involvement in developer communities
  • Conference or academic speaking experience
  • Multilingual or multi-region service development experience
  • Web frontend or mobile app development experience
  • Knowledge/experience with AWS or similar infrastructure

  • Working Hours: Flex time (no core time)
  • Salary: Annual revision possible, based on biannual evaluation
