Engineering Manager (EM) for AI × HR Tech Product

Job Description

This position is expected to lead product development and the formulation and execution of organizational and development strategies as the Engineering Manager for "exaBase DX Assessment & Learning."

People Management

  • Develop and execute strategies for engineering organization development, recruitment, training, and evaluation linked to business strategy.
  • Implement measures to maintain member engagement.
  • Support career development of members.
  • Establish a framework for accepting new graduates.

Technical Domain

  • Support decision-making regarding technology selection and architecture.
  • Assist in formulating technical strategies in collaboration with the Tech Lead and provide technical guidance to the entire team (reviews, issue identification, etc.).

Technology Stack

  • Kotlin / Javalin: Adopted for its efficiency in leveraging Java's rich library ecosystem while reducing verbosity.
  • React / Recoil: Chosen for component reusability and clarity through separation of concerns.

Development Structure

  • Engineers and product managers are organized into teams focused on various feature developments, divided into three teams of 3-4 members each (as of November 2024).
  • Approximately 90% of the development members are from overseas, with Japanese as the business communication language.
  • Agile development is practiced aiming for Scrum development with one-week sprints.
  • Teams operate under a rule of coming to the office once a week, allowing individuals to choose a working style that maximizes their performance.

Qualifications

  • Over 3 years of experience in managing an engineering organization of 4-5 or more members.
  • Experience in personnel evaluation and career development of team members.
  • Experience in software development.
  • Fluent business communication skills in Japanese.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at a startup.
  • Experience leading development projects.
  • Experience in operating and growing services.
  • Experience with modern languages/frameworks (e.g., Golang, Java, server-side Kotlin).
  • Experience in software development using Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Salary

  • Annual salary: 8.04 million yen to 13.08 million yen
  • Monthly salary: 1/12 of the annual salary
    • Minimum: 670,000 yen (Base pay: 495,680 yen, Fixed overtime pay for 45 hours: 174,320 yen)
    • Maximum: 1.09 million yen (Base pay: 806,470 yen, Fixed overtime pay for 45 hours: 283,530 yen)
  • Over time pay for work beyond 45 hours will be paid additionally.
  • Salary based on experience, ability, and preference; sign-on bonus may be possible.
  • Discretionary labor system applies.
