Engineering Manager - Knowledge Platform

Position Overview

The Knowledge Platform team builds a platform that extracts and accumulates useful knowledge from diverse data sources such as contracts, case files, legal documents, and internal documents. This platform serves as a foundation for various products by providing structured and reusable knowledge.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the development of internal applications and platform features. Your work will accelerate the AI-native transformation of the organization by structuring knowledge and expanding platform value across multiple products.


Mission & Challenges

  • Structure unstructured data into reusable knowledge to support robust platform capabilities across products.
  • Lead the development and operation of web applications for document processing and information extraction.
  • Streamline workflows for data ingestion, annotation, and review as a cross-functional organizational initiative.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap of the knowledge platform and internal tools.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and AI engineers to prioritize and solve key challenges.
  • Manage project execution including quality and delivery timelines to maximize outcomes.
  • Strengthen and support a high-performing engineering team through hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Lead continuous improvement of development processes—design reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD, operations, etc.

Preferred Experience

  • People management experience for teams of 5+ members (including evaluation systems).
  • Practical experience with large language models (LLM), such as prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and product integration.
  • Development of AI-centric (AI-native) products.
  • Design and development of internal tools supporting content or data operations.
  • Knowledge of web application and microservices technologies.
  • Understanding of document processing, information extraction, and knowledge management systems.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds (Japanese and English).

Working Conditions

Salary

  • ¥10,300,000 – ¥25,000,000 (based on experience and skills)

Location

  • Shibuya, Tokyo (no fully remote option)

Employment Type

  • Full-time, Permanent

Work Hours

  • Full-flex or discretionary labor system (no core time)
  • Includes possibility of overtime
  • 1 hour break

Probation Period

  • 3 months
