Job Description

  • Identify challenges based on quantitative analysis of the Mercari platform.
  • Propose improvements for services and marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, contribute as a core member to growth strategies, monitor business, and support management by creating business plans.

Unique Challenges

  • Carry out data analysis to support decision-making for fintech businesses such as Merpay, Mercoin, Mercari Mobile, and Mercari NFT.
  • Work closely with product, marketing, and corporate stakeholders; contribute facts from a participant’s perspective to accelerate and enhance the PDCA cycle.
  • Collaborate with other data teams (e.g., Data Engineering, Data Product) on topics like workflow efficiency and democratization of data.

Requirements

Required Experience & Skills

  • Alignment with group mission and values
  • 5+ years' hands-on experience in data analysis at a company with app/web services, or ad platform company experience
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction/aggregation
  • Ability to define problems, hypothesize, and independently carry out the analysis cycle (problem → hypothesis → data verification)
  • Ability to communicate valuable outcomes to stakeholders
  • Experience executing projects to improve processes/services in cooperation with other departments

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience measuring effects of marketing or product improvement (including A/B testing)
  • Project/team management experience
  • Data analysis experience using Python or other programming languages
  • Experience in sales planning, KPI management, or business planning/operation
  • Experience streamlining analytical workflows

Language

  • Japanese: Proficient (CEFR – C1) Required
  • English: Independent (CEFR – B1) Welcomed
