Description
As the manager of the BI Product Team (analytics engineers) at Mercari, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the team's mission: from strategic planning and consensus-building with stakeholders, to strengthening organizational capabilities. This position maximizes the team's output by constructing a highly automated and intelligent data ecosystem.
Work Responsibilities
- Formulating team strategies and roadmaps to achieve the Group mission, prioritizing tasks, and deciding how to allocate resources
- Building consensus with internal stakeholders, including leadership, as well as explaining the investment value of the data analysis environment and managing expectations
- Leading the development and operation of data products such as Socrates, Basic Tables, and the semantic layer, and taking responsibility for quality and delivery
- Managing goal-setting, performance evaluations, and talent development, while supporting strengths-based career growth for each team member
- Fostering a data-driven culture by communicating the team’s achievements and insights throughout the company
- Expanding the team’s capabilities and strengthening its organizational strength, such as by leading recruiting

Qualifications
Required Experience/Skills
- Shared belief in the mission and values of Mercari Group and its various companies
- At least 2 years of practical experience managing a team (including goal setting, evaluation, talent development, and involvement in recruiting)
- Experience leading the formulation and execution of strategies and roadmaps in areas such as data analysis infrastructure or data products
- Experience building consensus with diverse stakeholders, including leadership
- Practical experience designing, building, and operating data marts in data warehouses (BigQuery, etc.) or using BI tools in data governance and semantic layer design
- Strong interest or practical experience in leveraging AI/LLMs to improve data infrastructure and streamline operations
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience leading the launch or scaling of a specialized data team (analytics engineers, data engineers, etc.)
- Experience leading discussions with leadership to justify value and build consensus for investment decisions regarding company-wide infrastructure investments
- Independent drive to keep up with rapidly-changing technology trends (especially those related to AI/LLMs) and reflect them in team strategy and operations
