
Head of Product – Language Learning Platform
Role Overview
Take ownership of an advanced immersion language learning software suite. Combine user empathy with business objectives to drive a highly efficient, user-driven product development process. Collaborate across creative, engineering, and marketing teams to craft effective messaging and features for both beginners and power users.

Success in this role requires the ability to:
- Understand and activate both beginner and power users according to their unique needs
- Balance features and development for both user segments to maximize retention and satisfaction
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as product owner through all stages: market research, ideation, development, conversion, onboarding, activation, and long-term retention
- Act as the bridge between creative, engineering, marketing, and users
- Apply creativity and market insight to guide design and engineering in creating impactful features
- Design onboarding and engagement flows to convert free users to subscribers and improve user retention
- Contribute directly to UI design, copywriting, and advertising as needed
- Distinguish and address the different needs between beginners and advanced users, balancing development resources accordingly
- Develop nuanced, phased product approaches to gradually align market expectations with product vision
- Control development resources to prevent scope creep and maintain focused product objectives
- Prioritize rapid MVP launches to gather user data and iterate quickly
- Foster a culture of innovation within the team—including hiring, mentoring, and building a new generation of product leaders
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proven ability to combine market research, customer insight, instincts, and technical constraints into a unified product vision
- Track record of implementing activation and retention strategies
- Proficiency in design/wireframing tools (e.g., Figma) and project management software
- Experience managing budgets and timelines in fast-paced environments
- Demonstrated leadership in consumer software product teams
- Deep passion for language learning
- High proficiency in a language significantly different from your native language (a plus)
