Bilingual (English/Japanese) Test Engineer - Business Support Development Department (BSD)

Our division provides diverse services across four key domains: DATA, Business Support/Accounting, CRM, and AI Agent, which builds the foundation for leveraging AI across the entire Rakuten organization. Position: Why We Hire As BSD systems continue to expand across multiple business domains, we need to strengthen our quality assurance capability with professionals who can drive the full testing process from requirements analysis to test design, test environment preparation, and hands-on execution. We are therefore looking for a QA Lead who can accurately understand specifications, identify the right test perspectives, and independently design and execute effective tests. In this role, you will work closely with development teams and product managers to improve service quality through risk-based testing and strong quality ownership. 　 Position Details - Analyze requirements, specifications, and design documents to define test perspectives, test scope, and test strategy - Design tests based on functional, non-functional, and business requirements - Effectively leverage AI technologies to improve and accelerate test perspective creation, test case development, and test execution - Create test cases, test scenarios, and test data - Prepare and maintain the environments, accounts, and master data required for test execution - Execute tests hands-on and provide clear result tracking, analysis, and reporting - Drive defect reporting, reproduction, triage, and validation of fixes - Work closely with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to identify and resolve quality issues early - Manage quality risks, progress, and issues across multiple projects - Improve and standardize testing processes to raise overall quality - Review and support team members or outsourced members when needed 　 Work Environment Our QA team consists of 5 to 10 members and works in a global environment where both English and Japanese are used. In addition, we conduct regular 1on1 meetings to create a safe and comfortable working environment. 　 Mandatory Qualifications: - Over 3 years of hands-on experience covering requirements review, test design, and test execution end to end - Experience in test design and test execution for web applications or business systems - Ability to derive appropriate test perspectives from requirements, specifications, and design documents - Experience creating test cases, test scenarios, and test data independently - Experience driving test execution, including preparation of test environments, accounts, and data - Experience in defect management and test result reporting - Experience improving test design or test execution by leveraging AI technologies - Ability to read Japanese specifications and communicate in Japanese for work 　 Desired Qualifications: - Experience in test planning or quality leadership - Experience with API testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing - Knowledge of or hands-on experience with test automation - Experience using Generative AI or LLMs to improve development or QA processes - Knowledge of and experience in the internet service industry - Knowledge equivalent to ISTQB Foundation Level - E-commerce domain knowledge - Service-oriented mindset Soft Skills - Proactively involves others to solve problems or improve the situation - Has an inquiring mind for various issues and topics - Has a strong passion for continuous learning in a fast-moving environment - Communicates effectively with various stakeholders as well as other QA team members - Is willing to take on new challenges and drive improvements instead of being satisfied with the status quo - Promotes a team-working culture both within and outside the team Other Information: Additional information on Location Rakuten Crimson House (Head office) Additional information on English Qualification English - Business Level/TOEIC 800 above or possess equivalent abilities Additional information on Japanese Qualification Japanese - Business Level/JLPT N3 and can communicate in Japanese #engineer #applicationsengineer #commerce In Japanese, Rakuten stands for ‘optimism.’ It means we believe in the future.
