Job Description: Business Overview The Technology Platforms Division (TPD) drives the growth of Rakuten's ecosystem by delivering innovative, high-quality technology platforms characterized by integrated control and strategic partnerships. Within TPD, the Cloud Platform Supervisory Department (CPSD) develops and manages Rakuten's state-of-the-art cloud platform, empowering global scalability and accelerating innovation across our diverse business units. Department Overview The Cloud Management Department (CMD) leads Rakuten’s unified cloud infrastructure strategy by providing governance and essential tools to ensure seamless operations and high satisfaction among service providers and users. As the central point for strategy, planning, and process governance, we manage the cloud product portfolio, budgeting, quality, and security. Furthermore, we empower cross-departmental success through robust cloud foundations and management solutions. Position: Position Details As an Engineering Manager for our CI/CD platform, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex projects, driving them from conception through delivery. You will play a critical role in our organization by optimizing development processes and championing engineering quality. You will be responsible for maintaining a live service used by most of the company. We are looking for an individual with expertise in managing the career paths of engineers through mentorship and guidance, a proven track record of taking responsibility for the quality of services in production, and a passion for the technical excellence of their products. Responsibilities - Mentor and guide team members in their career development, serving as a primary source of support and expertise - Create and maintain plans, goals, and milestones for each project - Maintain a live service with high availability standards - Ensure the CI/CD platform operates as a reliable production service for its users, including service stability, incident management, operational support, and continuous improvement - Help drive technical strategy and architectural decisions for your products - Identify resource requirements and coordinate with management to ensure the team is appropriately staffed - Maintain a fundamental understanding of budgeting and effective cost control - Communicate ideas, progress, and results effectively to stakeholders at all levels to ensure project alignment and commitment - Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders across the company - Communicate project status, risks, and issues in a clear and timely manner to all impacted teams Mandatory Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (Over 4 years) - Experience in project management (Over 2 years) - Experience in people management (Over 2 years) - Technical product management (Over 2 years) - Proficiency in English, with a business level of understanding Desired Qualifications: - Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies (Over 2 years) - Experience of cloud computing, APIs, data analytics, or other relevant technical domains (Over 2 years) - Infra oriented product management (Over 2 years) - Japanese proficiency is a bonus but not mandatory #engineer #strategyplanning #technologyplatformdiv Languages: English (Overall - 3 - Advanced) In Japanese, Rakuten stands for ‘optimism.’ It means we believe in the future.
