Department Overview Life & Leisure Service Development Department (LLSD) is the department within Rakuten Group responsible for developing and operating services in the lifestyle domain, with a focus on automotive-related services. Centered on Rakuten Car, the team is committed to enhancing user experience and driving business growth. The Car Frontend Engineering Group is responsible for all frontend development for Rakuten Car services. The team is currently transitioning its tech stack to be centered on Vue / Nuxt, and is actively working to establish a development model where the frontend team can deploy independently to production. In close collaboration with Design, PM, and Backend teams, the group aims to improve both service quality and development efficiency. Position: Why We Hire Rakuten Car is currently transitioning toward a frontend development model centered on Vue / Nuxt, while also building an environment in which the frontend team can deploy independently to production. To support this transformation, we are looking for a professional with hands-on frontend development experience who can work closely with the Tech Lead to drive development, support team operations, and coordinate across stakeholders. This position is expected to lead team operations and strengthen the frontend development structure based on strong technical understanding of the frontend domain. Position Details As a Frontend Engineer for the Rakuten Car frontend group, you will be responsible for driving frontend development, supporting team operations, and coordinating with stakeholders. Working closely with the Tech Lead, you will help build a frontend-led development model and improve the team's overall productivity and quality. ・ Drive frontend development initiatives centered on Vue / Nuxt ・ Work with the Tech Lead to improve the development structure and optimize role allocation ・ Support the transition toward a frontend-led production deployment model ・ Coordinate and align requirements with cross-functional teams including Design, PM, and Backend ・ Define and improve development workflows, release operations, and quality improvement processes ・ Support quality improvement through code reviews and design reviews ・ Support technical decision-making and help organize team-level issues ・ Support member growth and development ・ In the future, participate in evaluation, hiring, and team building Work Environment ・ The frontend group consists of 5 members: 3 frontend engineers and 2 UI/UX designers ・ The team works closely with cross-functional stakeholders including frontend engineers, UI/UX designers, PMs, and backend engineers ・ The primary tech stack is Vue.js / Nuxt.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML / CSS ・ The backend is mainly built with Java ・ The team is currently transitioning from an HTML delivery model to a frontend-led production deployment structure Mandatory Qualifications: ・ More than 5 years of hands-on frontend development experience ・ Experience developing web services using Vue.js / Nuxt.js ・ Professional experience with JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, and CSS ・ Experience in web service development including REST API integration ・ Experience in frontend code review, architecture design, and quality improvement ・ Experience improving development workflows and release operations ・ Experience driving development in collaboration with Tech Leads and cross-functional teams such as Design, PM, and Backend Desired Qualifications: ・ Experience building and maintaining frontend deployment infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines ・ Experience collaborating with Java backend teams ・ Experience leading or driving the transition to a frontend-led development model ・ Experience managing an engineering team ・ Experience in goal setting, hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluation Other Information: Additional information on Location Rakuten Crimson House (Head office) #engineer #frontendengineer #webdeveloper #technologymanagement #commerce #RakutenCar #JavaScript Languages: English (Speaking - 2 - Intermediate), Japanese (Speaking - 3 - Advanced) In Japanese, Rakuten stands for ‘optimism.’ It means we believe in the future.
