Department Overview The Product Development Division works in close collaboration with group companies across the FinTech domain and is responsible for the planning, development, and operation of Rakuten Payment’s services and products, including Rakuten Pay and Rakuten Point Card. The division brings together professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including product managers, project managers, engineers, and data scientists. As one of the largest organizations within Rakuten Payment, accounting for approximately half of the company, it serves as a core driver of business growth. Pay Product Development Department is a core organization that supports Rakuten Payment’s revenue. The department is responsible for three products: Rakuten Pay (Offline Store Payment), Rakuten Pay (App Payment), and Rakuten Pay (Online Payment). We drive each product end-to-end, from planning new features and new services to development, launch, and improve continuously. Position: Why We Hire Pay Product Development Department is expected to lead the planning and development of new features and new services for Rakuten Pay (Physical-store Payment), Rakuten Pay (QR code Payment), and Rakuten Pay (Online Payment). In particular, Rakuten Pay (Online Payment) is accelerating functional expansion and the launch of new services in response to the continued growth of the e-commerce market. To deepen the existing product while also addressing new use cases, we are looking for a product planning professional who can contribute immediately and drive product planning and execution. Position Details This role is responsible for the full product lifecycle, from formulating the mid- to long-term product roadmap to driving cross-functional projects with sales, marketing, and development teams. You will own every phase of the product journey: plan, build, launch, and grow. - Plan new features and new services for Rakuten Pay (Online Payment), and lead requirement definition - Propose product improvements based on merchants’ and partners’ pain through both quantitative and qualitative analysis - Align requirements and drive projects with multiple internal stakeholders, including engineering, design, sales, and legal - Manage schedules and risks using WBS and issue tracking sheets - Prepare proposal materials and deliver presentations to secure approval from management and key decision-makers Work Environment - A lean, high-performing team mainly composed of members in their 20s and 30s, with a flat organizational culture where decisions are made quickly and proposals can move forward easily - A global environment with many international members across the division, where English is used in day-to-day communication; ideal for candidates who want to further develop their English skills through real business practices - A balanced mix of new graduates and mid-career hires, with members from a wide range of backgrounds, including manufacturers, startups, and consulting firms   Mandatory Qualifications: - Hands-on experience in service or product planning in the payments domain (1 year and over) (Experience in service or product planning in areas such as credit cards, e-money, QR code payments, or online payments) - Deep involvement in the system development process (Experience driving the full planning process from requirement definition to internal approval, testing, and release) - Project management experience (Experience managing development projects using WBS and issue tracking sheets, regardless of industry or project size) - Ability to align diverse stakeholder interests through both logical reasoning and strong relationship building - Leadership to stay committed to goals and drive difficult initiatives through completion Desired Qualifications: - Experience managing both teams and projects, including people management of approximately 5 members - Product management experience in web/IT services or smartphone apps, whether in 0-to-1 or 1-to-10 phases - Experience preparing approval presentations and proposal materials for internal and external stakeholders - Understanding of B2B2C business models such as payment gateways, e-commerce platforms, and SaaS - PM experience in agile/scrum development environments Other Information: Additional information on Location NBF Shinagawa Tower Additional information on Secondment You will be seconded from Rakuten Group, Inc. to Rakuten Payment, Inc. #engineer #director #projectmanager #fintechgroup #RakutenPay #RakutenPayment In Japanese, Rakuten stands for ‘optimism.’ It means we believe in the future.
