Job Description: Business Overview The Technology Platforms Division (TPD) drives the growth of Rakuten's ecosystem by delivering innovative, high-quality technology platforms characterized by integrated control and strategic partnerships. Within TPD, the Cloud Platform Supervisory Department (CPSD) develops and manages Rakuten's state-of-the-art cloud platform, empowering global scalability and accelerating innovation across its diverse business units. Department Overview The Infrastructure Services Department (INSD) at Rakuten delivers high-quality data center and network services to all Rakuten Group companies globally. We empower Rakuten's innovation with a stable, high-performing, secure, and cost-competitive infrastructure. By proactively addressing challenges and ensuring Rakuten has the infrastructure services it needs to thrive, we enable global business success. Position: Why We Hire The Rakuten Group continues to expand its business, and the infrastructure platform that supports it also continues to expand. In addition to maintaining stable operation, various projects are underway for new expansions. We are looking for a manager who manages the growing platform, project, resource, and grow together with the company.   Position Details Senior Manager of Data Center Strategy Office is responsible for strategic planning, mid-long term capacity planning, and data center development, as well as leading and managing the team. This role requires strategic planning, investment, DC capacity planning, technical lead, internal/external stakeholder management, and team development to accelerate Rakuten’s Data Center’s growth. Strategic planning and management of data center: - Develop the vision and policies for the data center - Develop and manage the business plan for the data center based on the business strategy - Develop long-term growth strategies for the data center - Develop Rakuten Group wide strategic synergy with other internal service organizations Development of mid-long-term capacity and investment plans for the data center: - Develop capacity planning for the data center - Develop and manage appropriate investment plans Development of construction plans for the data center and leading new data center construction projects: - Project management for new data center construction - Develop and manage plans for procurement and implementation of data center facilities and equipment - Ensuring compliance with regulations and laws for the data center - Conduct risk assessment and risk management for the data center Negotiation of data center site acquisition and colocation procurement: - Survey and selection of data center sites - Negotiation and coordination with local authorities - Negotiation of Colocation Agreements Budget management and cost reduction initiatives for the data center: - Budget planning and management for the data center - Development and implementation of cost reduction strategies - Efficient operation and management of the data center Mandatory Qualifications: - Minimum of 10 years of experience in data center strategic planning and development - Background in complex commercial development required in data center industry - Ability to solve problems using analysis, technical and organizational expertise - Ability to communicate effectively with strong presentation skills, and the ability to impact and influence - Strategic approach and a track record of contributing to organizational growth - Strong teaming skills and works well with internal and external team members and drives execution through collaboration and networking - Fluent in Japanese and English   Desired Qualifications: - Knowledge of regulations and laws related to data centers - Data center design and operation experience - Global team management experience - Experience as an IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, or Data Center provider   #business #strategyplanning #technologyplatformdiv Languages: English (Overall - 3 - Advanced), Japanese (Overall - 4 - Fluent) In Japanese, Rakuten stands for ‘optimism.’ It means we believe in the future.
