Senior Web Application Engineer, J.League Online Store - EC Expansion Development Department (ECEXD)

Job Description: Department Overview The EC Expansion Development Department (hereinafter, ECEXD), to which this position belongs, is responsible for various services such as Rakuten Rakuma, Rakuten Rebates, and Rakuken. While each service operates with an independent development group, we foster a community-like organization through cross-group interactions, such as regularly holding information sharing sessions that transcend individual services. Among these, the Lifestyle Service Development Group is responsible for the development and operation of the J.LEAGUE ONLINE STORE (https://store.jleague.jp/) and Rakuten Furusato Nozei (https://event.rakuten.co.jp/furusato/). The J.LEAGUE ONLINE STORE is an EC site that allows customers to purchase official merchandise for each J.LEAGUE club and join fan clubs. Since Rakuten's renewal in 2017, it has continued to grow. As a BtoC service that handles everything from product procurement, warehouse integration, search functions, product pages, orders, inventory management, to shipping and delivery to customers, you will have the opportunity to be broadly involved, from the front-end that customers typically use to the back-end that supports the core of the site. Rakuten Furusato Nozei is a hometown tax donation service provided by Rakuten Ichiba. It offers features such as managing donation history on "My Page," recommending return gifts, and a donation amount simulator. You can gain experience operating a service used by a very large number of people. In this group, you can take charge of two services with different characteristics, allowing you to experience growth and a sense of accomplishment. Position: Why We Hire While J.LEAGUE ONLINE STORE and Rakuten Furusato Nozei are steadily growing, a more robust and scalable system is needed to further drive service growth. We are also committed to providing the best user experience. For this reason, we require a stronger team and higher-level engineering skills, and are seeking more Web Engineers to work with us as part of our development team. Position Details - Technically lead team members (responsibly review designs and code, overcome technical obstacles, and maintain service stability) - Research and catch up on new technologies - Work closely with Product Managers and Project Managers to discuss backlog refinement and mid-to-long term plans - Understand business requirements and deliver features with high quality and speed - System design, development, testing, and operation (release, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, bug fix support) - Operations (release, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, bug fixes) - System improvements (refactoring, adoption of appropriate technologies and architecture, system performance optimization with load testing, etc.) Work Environment Organizational Culture We foster an environment of active communication and HRT (Humility, Respect, Trust) among team members. Organizational Structure We are a small, elite team of about 15 members, comprising a diverse group of individuals with various nationalities, experiences, and backgrounds. We are currently recruiting for a position within our Engineering Team. Development Environment Java / PHP / JavaScript / Spring Boot / CodeIgniter / AngularJS / Oracle / MySQL / Jenkins / memcached / Redis / Kibana / Docker / Vue.js (planned) Mandatory Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience developing web applications in Java - 5+ years of experience with Java web application frameworks (Spring, Struts, etc.) - Basic knowledge of databases (Oracle or MySQL) and at least 2 years of experience - Skills to design and review systems from an architectural perspective - A mindset focused on catching up with and proposing new technologies and systems - A sense of fulfillment in maximizing team results and continuously improving Desired Qualifications: - At least 2 years of development experience with PHP web application frameworks (e.g., CodeIgniter) - At least 2 years of experience leading projects and teams - Experience with Agile development processes (e.g., Scrum) - Experience with test automation, CI implementation, and operations - Basic knowledge and experience with performance testing - Experience developing consumer-facing web applications Other Information: Additional information on Location Rakuten Crimson House (Head office) Additional information on English Qualification TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability) or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country.
