Job Description: Research Engineer/Scientist (Speech, Audio, and Music Foundation Models)

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development on speech language models, including spoken dialogue, speech recognition, synthesis, and translation.
• Generate and validate large-scale speech datasets; explore effective preprocessing methods.
• Develop learning techniques that integrate linguistic knowledge with speech processing capabilities.
• Design benchmarks to evaluate the unique capabilities of speech language models.
• Publish research outcomes through academic papers and patent applications.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong initiative and execution skills to drive large-scale training.
• Experience developing models in one or more of the following areas: speech recognition, speech synthesis, speech translation, or spoken dialogue systems.
• Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience in collaborative software development using platforms like GitHub.
• Degree in computer science or a related field (master’s degree or higher preferred).

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Ph.D. in computer science or a related field.
• Track record of having papers accepted at top international conferences (e.g., ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, ACL, EMNLP, etc.).
• Experience developing code for large-scale distributed training.
• Ability to communicate and discuss effectively in both Japanese and English.

Working Hours

• Flexible work available
• Standard hours: 9:00 AM – 5:45 PM
• Break: 1 hour
• Overtime: Required as needed

Salary and Bonuses

• Monthly Salary: ¥541,667 – ¥1,500,000
• Estimated Annual Salary: ¥6,500,000 – ¥18,000,000
  • The upper limit is not guaranteed.
  • Salaries include base pay plus fixed overtime allowance (equivalent to 35 hours).
  • Overtime pay applies only to non-managerial positions and will be paid additionally if actual overtime exceeds the fixed 35 hours.
  • Incentives may be provided separately.

Allowances

• Commuting allowance: up to ¥150,000 per month
• Non-managerial employees: eligible for overtime, night shifts, holiday work, and commuting allowances
• Managerial employees: eligible for management, night shift, and commuting allowances

Holidays and Leave

• Regular holidays: Two days off per week (Saturday and Sunday), national holidays
• Year-end and New Year holidays: December 29 – January 3
• Other company-designated holidays
• Annual paid leave: 6–21 days (varies depending on the month of joining)
