Position: QA Engineer (Manual & Automation)

Role Overview

As a QA Engineer, you will establish and continuously improve quality assurance processes for our Conversational Commerce platform, covering both manual and automated testing. You will collaborate closely with product, backend, frontend, and data teams, owning everything from test-strategy design to CI/CD integration. Your work will ensure that features, performance, and security meet the highest standards.


What You’ll Do

Test Strategy & Planning

  • Define comprehensive QA strategy (functional, end-to-end, regression, performance, security testing)
  • Create risk-based test plans, detailed test cases, and acceptance criteria

Manual Testing

  • Execute exploratory and boundary-condition testing
  • Perform cross-device/cross-browser compatibility tests
  • Validate chatbot conversation flows, payment modules, and dashboards for optimal user experience

Test Automation

  • Develop & maintain E2E and regression test suites (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
  • Build API- and database-level automated tests integrated with CI pipelines (GitHub Actions / GitLab CI)

Quality Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor coverage, defect density, MTTR, and other KPIs
  • Drive data-driven improvements and champion early engagement ("shift-left" testing culture)

Defect Management & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Track defect lifecycle in Jira / Linear, ensuring transparency and progress
  • Reproduce issues, provide detailed steps/logs, and collaborate with engineering for rapid fixes

Must Have Qualifications

  • 3+ years in software QA or test-automation within Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong manual testing skills (plan creation, test case design, defect reporting, acceptance testing)
  • Hands-on with at least one automation framework: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium
  • Experience with RESTful API testing, basic SQL/NoSQL, and cloud concepts (AWS/GCP)
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines (including automated test/report integration)
  • Strong technical communication in English (Japanese is a plus)

Nice to Have Qualifications

  • Experience in performance testing (JMeter, k6) or security testing
  • Testing in contract/event-driven or Kafka-based microservices architectures
  • Python/TypeScript scripting to extend automation frameworks
  • Background in SaaS, chatbot, or FinTech system testing
  • ISTQB/CSTP or other recognized testing certifications
  • Implemented QA best practices for high-throughput, low-latency environments
