Responsibilities

A typical day in this role may include:

  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on systems, networks, and applications.
  • Investigating, analyzing, and responding to security incidents and threats in a timely manner.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest security trends, threat intelligence, and best practices.
  • Providing guidance and support to other teams and stakeholders on security-related matters.
  • Reviewing and updating security measures, tools, and processes regularly.
  • Leading or supporting security-related projects, such as the implementation of new security tools or technologies.
  • Analyzing security metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reviewing product designs and system architectures to identify security risks early and defining appropriate security requirements using threat modeling techniques.
  • Performing source code reviews to detect security flaws and potential vulnerabilities before deployment.
  • Designing and implementing security controls and technical solutions to mitigate risk across applications and infrastructure.
  • Integrating automated security checks and testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitoring systems, logs, and alerts to identify and respond to suspected security incidents.
  • Maintaining and evolving security standards for web and mobile technologies.
  • Educating and supporting engineering teams through guidance, workshops, and secure coding best practices.
  • Collaborating with information security personnel and other stakeholders on technical security matters and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in information security, network security, or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with threat and vulnerability management.
  • Strong knowledge of security concepts, principles, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in network and system security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
  • Experience with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security auditing tools.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and regulations, e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR.

Nice-to-Have

  • Knowledge of cloud security concepts and experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and experience with application security testing tools.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Golang).
  • Experience leading or coordinating security-related projects.
  • Relevant professional certifications (CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, GIAC, etc.).
